DIY Teeth Whitening| The Best & Worst Remedies

Baking Soda + Peroxide

SO if you're ANYTHING like me you love nothing more than a BRIGHT white SEXY SMILE! Furthermore if you're anything like me... Your a "Tight wad" a penny pincher or what some call frugal.... YUP I like my money right where I can see it... In my closet.. Everyone has their fix...

With that being said here is a quick tip on some at home teeth whitening HOME REMEDIES... most of this stuff you can find around your home... or at a (( cents only store near you!

 THE MOST common way

Some good old Baking Soda + Peroxide... Mix the two to make a tooth paste.. Yup a Toothpaste it's quick easy effective inexpensive and you will see results FAST

Why it works

When dissolved in water baking soda whitens (and cleans) teeth by effectively scraping off the yellow and brown stains that form with age and wear. The free radicals from the water dissolved baking soda penetrate the teeth’s enamel and lighten the stains from a yellow or brown to give a much whiter appearance.

How it works

The most successful method of teeth whitening with baking soda is really quite easy.
  • Take a small glass and fill with a teaspoon of baking soda.
  • Add a pinch of salt.
  • Dissolve the mixture with water into a paste.
  • Brush your teeth like you would normally.
  • Rinse your mouth out well with water.

If you feel a tingling sensation while whitening your teeth with baking soda, don’t worry as this is normal.Who it works for

You should only use this formula to whiten your teeth once every two weeks as baking soda is quite abrasive and can damage your tooth enamel if used too often. Baking soda can also dissolve orthodontic glue so please don’t try this teeth whitening method if you have a permanent retainer or wear braces.

OIL PULLING

The LEAST Common Way

Upon much research I have discovered "Oil Pulling"

Oil Pulling is a safe, simple, cheap and gentle ‘do it yourself home remedy’ that cures and prevents diseases and extends your healthy life.
It involves rinsing the mouth with 1 tablespoon (10ml) of oil for 15 to 20 minutes and spitting it out. You can use either sunflower oil or sesame oil, both of which are usually used for cooking and readily available in the home.
This simple therapy is completely harmless as you do not take any medicines - even the oil you use is spit out after OP. By helping the body get rid of toxins that have accumulated, Oil Pulling promotes self healing from within.

It's Natural easy and I Can't wait to try... Here is a video on it:

LEMON JUICE?

Yea. No!  Lemon juice for teeth whitening… not a good idea.

The way lemon juice works (or not works) is by robbing your tooth enamel of calcium from the citric acid in the juice. That's not good, Think about the fact that teeth will decay much faster without the right amount of calcium.

Lemon juice can also strip away the tooth enamel until it is damaged beyond repair.

THE WOOOOOOORST WAY!

  1. Well, moderate the use of the baking soda solution. It can be an effective tool, but don't use too much, as it can damage teeth similar to the acid of a lemon. Use it once in a while, but remember to practice methods that will keep the teeth healthy as well.

    1. Hi Eddie,

I agree on what u said. using baking soda could also arise a problem of sensitivity. Dentists can guide us well in terms of teeth whitening and other dental problems.

  2. Aside from baking soda and peroxide, you can also use fruits as a teeth whitener. You can use strawberries as a natural teeth whitener, this can remove stains that you gain from coffee, wine, and dark sodas. But be aware of its acid, as this can damage the enamel on your teeth.

  7. Some people say that lemon is a good teeth whitening remedy. But its acidic nature can destroy tooth enamel that can lead to tooth decay. So, it would be best to consult with an expert dentist to know what is the best method or remedy to whiten your teeth.

  10. One of the most common myths about teeth whitening http://www.newdelhidentalclinic.com/Teeth-whitening-in-delhi.html is that all treatments are equal. In fact, professional whitening services conducted by a dentist tend to be much more effective than typical over-the-counter gels and strips. In fact, even among commercially available treatments there are a wide range of strengths, so not all treatments will have the same whitening effect.

  21. Really interesting blog about a topic that is so important for self confidence. The tips are great but there is one thing that I disagree with and that is the use of peroxide. It's preferable to use peroxide free teeth whitening kits if you're going to use one....so much less chance of irritating or even burning the gums if you overdo it.

  25. If your teeth and dental hygiene are not healthy and in good condition it is not recommended to use any of the best whitening toothpaste products.
Always check with your dentist if you are unsure. While whitening toothpastes are great to brighten up your smile,
to keep it that way you must maintain consistent and proper brushing habits.
This in fact is as important if not more important than the toothpaste itself.

  30. I always appreciate when someone creates there own remedies and ways to do things. But my biggest fear is trying something and getting results. Then 2 years down the line, Im going back to the dentist because that same remedy screwed up my teeth! NO WAY! Call me a sucker, but I rather trust a company product over a home-made remedy. And I'm the type that likes to have my money in my pocket as well, but looking at a $2000 bill from the dentist from peroxide damage is not saving for me. Anways, I tried this cute little product called Power Swabs which was fairly inexpensive and it worked great fro me, check'em out! Google it, POWER SWABS! And it was clinically tested and even got my dentist into it haha..hope I helped my fellow sceptic's and bloggers

  31. I had no idea that the baking soda could dissolve orthodontic glue. I have a permanent retainer and have noticed that my retainer was starting to come off. I brush with baking soda a lot and should probably start brushing with it less often.

  32. The juxtapositioning of whiting product with fundamental economic, social and political strategic conflict draws criticism from the aristocracy, who are likely to form a major stronghold in the inevitable battle for hearts and minds. Here begins my in-depth analysis of the glorious subject of whiting product.

  35. I have heard about a lot of different teeth whitening strategies. I have heard about using lemon juice before. It didn't sound like it would be a very good idea to me; it's good to know that I shouldn't try it. However, I think I'll try the baking soda and peroxide.

  42. I've tried lemon with baking soda to make a paste. Then I'll use it as a toothpaste. It worked just fine but I don't use it everyday. Maybe like once a month. I still have a regular oral prophylaxis with my dentist every 4-6 months as needed. Anybody here successful with using activated charcoal?
